Solution

Transforming the McQuade Library’s first floor into a dynamic center of learning challenged the typical approach in which library services are delivered to students. Thinking beyond quiet individual spaces, a rich variety of unique and comfortable spaces linked by a common visual theme, created a relaxed atmosphere of cohesion for staff and students. The focus was to engage students and promote an energized student life experience throughout the campus. Key community areas were re-envisioned as dynamic social spaces – the fire place nook, relaxation room, wisdom bar/offices, the community table. The social environment was developed further by the creation of a variety of diverse and distinctive gathering spaces including lounge, game room and meeting spaces in the Campus Alumni Center.
